Choosing a wedding photographer can feel like an exhausting on-going process (I have BEEN in your shoes as a 2023 bride myself!). If I wasn’t a wedding photographer, I strongly believe I wouldn’t know the best questions for a wedding photographer. To help you out, here are 10 different questions you should ask your wedding photographer BEFORE booking them for your wedding day.

This gives you an idea of how they back up their images or if they are shooting on a camera that has two card slots for their camera cards. It’s so important to know that they take safety promotions in order to make sure your images are safe!
Having stellar communication with your wedding photographer is the key to success! Knowing when you are going to receive your images, won’t leave you anxious and in the dark.
Many wedding photographer do this so you can feel comfortable shooting with them along with getting an idea on how they shoot before wedding day, etc. Having an engagement session a year before your wedding is helpful for your save the dates along with prints for your wedding reception!
It’s always okay to ask especially if you have had your engagement session before booking your wedding photographer. Many photographer have a different way going about this so it’s important to ask. Some may allow you to add an hour of time onto your timeline, a year anniversary session, or a separate session with your wedding attire.
This includes knowing what to expect when it comes to wedding calls, if they pack extra equipment for backup, do they send you questionnaires so they can better understand your wedding day, do they help with building a wedding timeline, etc.?
It’s important to know if your photographer is going to watermark your images! If so, is this something you are going to be able to look past when you look at your images? PLEASE be sure that you can print your images- having your wedding photos sit on a flash drive without hanging them in a comfy place in your house is a waste of your money!
Every photographer is different! If you are booking with limited time, it’s important to know how quickly your photographer is going to book up!
Weddings are expensive!!! Ask your photographer if they offer monthly payment plans so that the cost is evenly distributed prior to the wedding!
Your photographer should have a back up plan as to how they go about instances that they can’t control!
Some photographers deliver both a physical hard drive of your images along with an online gallery. Where as other photographers only deliver online galleries. If you have a preference, be sure to ask!
