Whimsical Engagement Photos at the Vizcaya Museum & Gardens
Gavin and Jocelyn’s engagement session at Vizcaya Museum & Gardens felt like stepping into a photo album. The soft textures of the gardens, the historic architecture, and the coastal light all came together in a way that felt effortlessly romantic and a little bit whimsical. Sessions at Vizcaya always carry this European, almost transportive feeling, and for couples getting married in South Florida, it’s one of the most beautiful places to create engagement photographs that feel both elevated and personal.
Jocelyn wore a white dress that moved so naturally with the breeze, paired with Gavin’s light suit that gave a coastal feel. Everything about their look felt refined, minimal, and editorial. We leaned into that energy, creating images that felt artistic and intentional while still allowing space for movement and connection. From quiet moments walking through the gardens to the grand stone architecture along the water, every part of this session felt like it belonged in a magazine while still feeling true to them. Next February, we all jump on a plane to Columbia, where I’ll be photographing their destination wedding. Capturing moments from each stage of this special season of life – engagement, parties, showers, and finally, the wedding – help hold those memories forever. I am so grateful I have the chance to document this season for Gavin and Jocelyn.
What I love most about photographing at Vizcaya Museum & Gardens is how versatile it is—the lush greenery, the waterfront views, the historic details. It allows me to approach each session with a storytelling mindset, blending soft, candid moments with more composed, editorial imagery. For couples planning a Vizcaya wedding in Miami or anywhere in South Florida, this kind of session is such a beautiful way to begin telling your story.
